Xpander for Rally Rally, This Is the Shape

Tangerang - National rally driver Rifat Sungkar will go down on an international rally in the AP4 event. Uniquely, Rifat uses Mitsubishi's flagship car, which is a Mitsubishi Xpander MPV to be used as a mount in the AP4 rally event.

According to Rifat, AP4 has a regulation in which the rider uses a car from a manufacturer with 80 percent of its parts retained. However, Rifat, who will be competing with the Xpander Rally Team, said that he had the flexibility to work on legs and borer.

"The origin of the story is that I use Xpander every day, for schoolchildren. I see the potential, this car, every time I drive it is good, I think what can be explored by Xpander," said Rifat at GIIAS 2019 at ICE, BSD, Tangerang On Sunday (07/21/2019).

"When driving Xpander I had a feeling from the beginning that this car had something to do with the car I used to use, Evo. In 2017 I talked with an engineer in Japan and indeed there are many geometries similar to Evo," Rifat said at the press conference.

This car had previously been exhibited in the form of a concept at the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) a few months ago. And the results that are ready to use, even though there are some improvements, are being displayed at GIIAS 2019.

"The vehicle is ready for 90 percent, but later it will be tuned again. But we believe this car was born with an aura of competition," said Rifat.

"This car has potential. So if you use Xpander everyday, I prove Xpander is not only for school children, but we can excel for Indonesia using Xpander. The goal is that this car has more potential than just a family vehicle," he said.

Rifat sees the chassis used by Xpander adopts the construction of the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X which ensures better handling of this car. For the engine, this Xpander car has been modified using a Mitsubishi 4B11 engine with a capacity of 1,600 cc.

"For the engine, according to the regulation this car must use a machine that matches the brand of the car (ie Mitsubishi). This car is 1,500 cc, changed to 1,600 cc not far," said Rifat.

The closest agenda, the Xpander Rally Team will race in New Zealand on August 16-17 2019. Next, the Xpander Rally Team will take part in the 5 series Sprint Rally national championship starting September 2019.
